How I price WordPress projects as a freelancer

FreelancingSep 5, 20267 min read

For my first two years, I priced projects by guessing what the client could afford. It was a terrible system.

Price the outcome, not the hours

A store that makes the client $10K a month is worth more than “30 hours of work”. Ask about the business goal first.

Use three packages

Give clients a basic, a recommended and a premium option. Most people pick the middle one, so make it the one you actually want to sell.

Always charge a deposit

50% up front. It filters out unserious clients and protects your time.

Raise prices every ten projects

If nobody pushes back on your price, it’s too low.
